Statesman – Cuts endanger legal aid for 5,000 Texans

Federal funding cuts will force Texas RioGrande Legal Aid to serve about 5,000 fewer low-income families from the Austin area to the Mexican border, the nonprofit announced Tuesday.

Texas RioGrande will lay off almost one-fourth of its employees, or 65 people, in mid-May and close its Del Rio office.
