The White House’s “Champions of Change” initiative will host Texans Paula S. Gomez and David G. Hall today for a roundtable discussion on the importance of public interest law and providing legal services to impoverished communities around the country.
The “Champions of Change” initiative honors Americans who are actively working to improve their communities and “helping America rise to meet the challenges of the 21st century,” according to a press release from the White House. These two Texans work to facilitate cooperation between the Brownsville Community Health Center and Texas RioGrande Legal Aid to help underserved populations address “non-medical determinants of health, including food and energy security, housing conditions, education and personal safety.”
