The apartment complex sits on prime real estate along Lady Bird Lake, east of I-35. In 2009, the Austin City Council approved a deal to allow Houston-based developer Grayco to build a $200 million high rise project on the land where the apartments now sit. In exchange, Grayco agreed to donate $2 million to the city’s affordable housing trust fund, rent 13 of the new apartments to lower income residents ,and spend $90,000 on relocation assistance for residents.
