Texas is back among states that parcel out food stamps to the poor most accurately, after a privatization fiasco and a six-year tailspin, federal officials say.
Last year, Texas had the single biggest gain in its payment accuracy rate, a jump of nearly 5 percentage points, U.S. Agriculture Undersecretary Kevin Concannon said Thursday. He oversees the program, which the federal government pays for but the state administers.
