Texas RioGrande Legal Aid will be hosting two free legal clinics to help Rio Grande Valley residents considering filing for bankruptcy. The clinics are scheduled for early February and March and currently are accepting applications for assistance.
The free clinics are aimed at individuals facing serious debt who have considered filing for bankruptcy. At the clinics, Rio Grande Valley residents will be paired with attorneys who can advise them of their legal options, educate them on their rights when dealing with debt collectors and begin the process to declare bankruptcy, if advisable.
According to Pablo Almaguer, TRLA’s private attorney involvement coordinator, “Filing for bankruptcy is one option for people who are facing a growing amount of debt and don’t know what to do. Our hope is that these clinics will give answers to people in desperate situations.”
