For the first time in more than a decade, there’ll be a new face representing El Paso in the Texas Senate when the legislature gets back to business in January.
Jose Rodriguez, the son of migrant farm workers and former El Paso County attorney, will replace outgoing state Sen. Eliot Shapleigh. The two are close friends and allies and share many political views and goals.
But Rodriguez’s easy-going manner separates him from Shapleigh’s tough talk and sometimes-divisive positions.
