Military service members and veterans face a myriad of legal problems. Laws differ from state to state and impact military families in many ways. In addition, many service members and recent veterans who find themselves in need of assistance are unfamiliar with resources available in the community.
To help address these problems, El Paso Lawyers for Patriots (EPLP) – the local version of the new statewide initiative being launched by State Bar of Texas President Terry Tottenham – was initiated by El Paso Bar Association President Carlos Cardenas. EPLP has developed a coordinated network of El Paso lawyers through the El Paso Bar Association and veterans’ service providers to assist veterans, active duty military, and their families who cannot afford legal services.
