On April 16, Pablo Javier Almaguer was elected Chair of the Board of the State Bar of Texas. He will assume that post during the State Bar’s annual meeting in June. He was the first legal services attorney to serve on the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas and will be the first State Bar board chairman from the Rio Grande Valley since 1954.
Almaguer is highly qualified for the position. He is the current President of the Board of Directors of the Texas Civil Rights Project and the former President of the Hidalgo County Bar Association. His history with the State Bar includes his service as co-vice chair of the State Bar of Texas Local Bar Services Committee and as a council member of the State Bar of Texas Hispanic Issues Section.
