Each year, the State Bar’s Poverty Law Section (PLS) recognizes outstanding poverty law practitioners and advocates for their achievements in legal services. The Poverty Law Awards are a tribute to the expertise and accomplishments of all who are dedicated to equal justice and to the public service and nobility of those who choose a career in poverty law.
During the PLS’s annual meeting on April 14, 2010, the Poverty Law Section presented James C. Harrington with the Noble Award for Lifetime Achievements in Poverty Law. The Noble Award was created to honor a Texas attorney who has significant lifetime professional accomplishments in expanding the provision of high-quality legal services to, and protecting the legal rights of, the underprivileged.
