San Antonio Express News – Valley called ‘front line’ against human trafficking

Since a Houston-based child advocacy group convinced lawmakers to require bars and “nuisance” motels in the state to post the national human trafficking hot line number, the calls have been streaming in.

In two years, a picture has emerged of Texas as a center of forced labor and prostitution rings exploiting unauthorized immigrants — particularly children.

Traffickers pass through border areas such as the Rio Grande Valley and set up shop in bars, “massage” parlors and motels in Houston and Dallas.
