Brownsville Herald – Five more sue feds in midwive’s discrimination case

Five more American citizens sued the federal government Friday, alleging that the U.S. Department of State is discriminating against South Texans who were delivered by midwives.

Texas RioGrande Legal Aid filed the lawsuit, along with residents of Brownsville, Austin, Eagle Pass, Sonora and Del Rio. All five plaintiffs were delivered by midwives in rural border communities, and each claims that his passport application has been denied because the government doubts his citizenship.
