In Texas, there is one legal aid attorney for every 13,000 eligible residents. That means by the time an application for services lands on Adriana Gabriela Rodriguez’s desk, the applicant has likely been waiting a long time for intake, while struggling to manage whatever legal challenge they are facing. Since Adriana’s clients are primarily survivors of domestic abuse, she feels the pressure to help them as quickly and effectively as possible once they get to her at Texas RioGrande Legal Aid. Adriana is a 2011 Equal Justice Works Fellow sponsored by the Texas Access to Justice Foundation, and she is working in her hometown of Laredo, Texas.
