Human trafficking is increasingly in the spotlight throughout Texas and the nation. Just last month, President Obama decried human trafficking as “one of the great human rights causes of our time,” announcing a redoubling of the Administration’s efforts to eradicate trafficking. The Texas Legislature’s bipartisan Joint Committee on Human Trafficking held three state-wide public hearings on the issue in the last year alone, and there are a number of active anti-trafficking coalitions and task forces throughout the state.
