Advocates for Domestic Violence Victims to Celebrate Success with National and Local Awards
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – July 29, 2011 – Advocates for victims of domestic violence will come together on Friday, August 5 to celebrate their achievements as part of the closing luncheon for the 11th Annual Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Cross Training sponsored by Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA).
At the celebration, TRLA will be honored with the Mary Byron Celebrating Solutions Award, a prestigious national award aimed at recognizing pioneering efforts aimed at breaking the cycle of domestic violence. TRLA is receiving the recognition for its Legal Alliance for Survivors of Abuse (LASA) project which partners legal aid attorneys with domestic violence shelters and rape crisis centers to assist victims with their legal issues from the moment they seek help. The advocates will also honor nine private attorneys, including five from the San Antonio area, for their volunteer efforts to help victims of domestic violence.
