As expected, Texas RioGrande Legal Aid is suing the Federal Emergency Management over the way it handed out disaster aid and assistance to the victims of Hurricane Dolly.

TRLA filed the lawsuit on behalf of La Unión del Pueblo Entero and 14 low-income Texans who were denied FEMA benefits because of the conditions of their homes prior to the disaster.

In its coverage of the aftermath of Dolly, the Guardian found numerous colonia residents in San Carlos and San Cristobal, near Edinburg, who were denied financial assistance by FEMA.
